Skin and eye problems often overlap. The eyelids are skin, many skin conditions affect the eyes, and some eye conditions cause skin changes. Dr Guy Ratu is a GP with Extended Role (GPwER) in both Dermatology and Ophthalmology, so he can look at the skin and the eye together.
Where skin and eye conditions meet
- Blepharitis: inflamed, crusty eyelids, often linked to skin conditions
- Rosacea: can cause red, irritated eyes as well as facial redness
- Eczema: dry, itchy skin, including the delicate eyelid area
- Eyelid lumps and bumps, styes and chalazia
- Dry eye and conjunctivitis
- Moles and skin checks around the eyes (moles and skin checks)
Skin conditions
Dr Ratu also helps with acne, psoriasis, skin tags, warts and verrucas and hair loss. See the Dermatology page for more.
Why see a GP with Extended Role?
A GPwER is a GP with additional training and experience in a specialist area. Dr Ratu is not a consultant, and he will always tell you if you need onward referral. He has over eight years of general practice experience and is a GP Trainer.
